Portrait photography is about communicating who you are in a way that words can’t, and that’s what I’m here to empower you to do: share your identity + ideas, and attract + connect with your audience through photographs.
I work with visual artists, musicians, writers, and creatively inclined businesses of all sorts to make artful, thoughtfully customized photographs. My clients use their images for promotional materials, media kits, on their websites, social media feeds and online streaming profiles, for album artwork, book jackets and print marketing.
Often compared to paintings, my visual style developed out of my love for art history, a fine arts education and a fascination with light. I mix these influences with an appreciation for the beauty of everyday life and a genuine interest in listening to and learning about people.
We’re in this together – I want to connect on a human level and collaborate with my clients to achieve their goals.

“I can’t say enough about Joanna and the beautiful branding shots she created for me. From the moment I began to work with her, I felt at ease and just knew that she would take care of all of my needs. Meeting her was a joy and she created an easy-going, natural environment for us to work in. She is highly professional, my proofs were exceptional (I could have picked every single one of them and been happy), and I cannot wait to place her beautiful photos on my website and in future promotional videos for my e-courses.” – Alexis Bonavitcola, professional mixed media artist.
A Little About Me:
Photography has been the only job I’ve wanted to do since my dad gave me my first camera at age 12 (a Pentax K1000 all-manual film camera). I learned everything I could in middle and high school, and then graduated from college in 2007 with a BA in Art and Photography.
I have been following my love of connecting with people through photographs ever since, officially starting my portrait photography business in 2012. I currently live in Mt Vernon, Baltimore with my rescue cat Lucy.
I try to make time often for doing the other things I love: listening to music, visiting art galleries, being in nature, taking walks around Baltimore, and baking treats for my friends (lately I’ve been experimenting with new flavors of scones).
